We've got our hands full around here...

I really love my blog, but {gasp}...

...it might be taking a backseat for a while.
Boo.
Maybe you'd like a picture to remember us by?

Sixty and AK...I wish you were here so we could kick it into high gear!! You know I need you.
I'll clothe your children in return, I promise!

1950's House Wife

As I was on my way to drop the girls off at school this morning, the radio was on which is a rarity in our car. Usually I'm listening to the popular DVD of the moment (even though I said I'd never let the DVD player take over). So as we're driving, the guy on the radio says he has a home ec text book from 1950 in front of him and wants us to hear the top ten roles of a wife because we'd all find it hysterical. My curiosity got the best of me and after he was done with his list, I wanted to phone in and ask him a few things (or tell him a few things, rather) or either reach through the radio and hand him a Bible. The things he found so ridiculous were all the roles the Bible lays out for women, give or take a few. What's so wrong with that? The lady who did phone in right after he got done took care of everything I wanted to tell the guy, and I'm glad she did! I so wish we could get back to simpler times. I'm not so sure I wouldn't rather be living in the 50's...but with cell phones!

We're headed to my good ol' hometown this afternoon. I'm taking Smitten on the road and going to a Christmas Bazaar. Should be fun! And the girls are excited to get some time with my brother (5) and sister (10). It's always a zoo when we're all together, but we wouldn't have it any other way!
A few pictures before I go...
The other morning Cate was asking Towns if she was cold...

She said yes, so Cate tried to warm her up...so sweet!

And yesterday we took our lunch outside and enjoyed the sunshine...

We also got into the sidewalk chalk and bubbles...

Cate and Pink played 'ride a little horsey' for a while before she tried to sing her to sleep...

But Pink didn't cooperate too very long! Imagine that!!
B we'll miss you the next few days...
By the time you'll be reading this, we'll be headed south.
Take care of your daddy while we're gone! :)
Please do lots of this or I'll have withdrawals...

With your phone permanently attached to your hand that shouldn't be a problem, right? :)
These two birds and I will miss you much...

Good luck at the game tomorrow night...you'll be fabulous, I just know it!!

We Ballin' - We Fly

It must be the weather that's got me in the type of mood a grown woman would need to be in to type the title of this post! HA! The one and only reason I'd do it is for Bethany because that's one of her basketball cheers (we ballin', we fly, we shoot our baskets high - to be exact). Last night was her first b-ball game to cheer as captain of her squad, so you'll have to forgive me for being crazy just this once!

She's never so much as been to a basketball game before, but by the end of the night she was calling cheers like she'd been doing it for years! Rebounds, traveling...you name it, she called it. She did so good and I was so proud! J stayed at home with Towns who was sick, and he kept Cate here too so that I could go and give B 100% of my attention. It was a great night, and B you do that Dribble Like It's Hot cheer like it's your job! Love it!!
Here she is calling the cheer between quarters...

Halftime cheer...

Wish this one wasn't blurry because she looks like she's having a ball!

Way to go, Miss Captain!

Trick-or-Treat!

Trick-or-treating was a blast this year with the girls...I didn't stress over their costumes and we weren't rushing around trying to make sure everything was just perfect. I'm a perfectionist to a fault. I want everything just so, and as our girls get older and so do I, I'm realizing that most things aren't worth sweating over. When Towns nor Cate wanted to wear what I had laid out for them to trick-or-treat in, we just went with it.

(Cate already had a mouth full of candy and we hadn't even left the house yet!)
Towns threw on leggings, ballet flats, and my old red dress up cape from when I was her age and called herself Little Red Riding Hood.
Cate's costume was designed 100% around these...

She had been wearing them all afternoon and majorly protested when I tried to take them off of her, so I got out Towns' Halloween costume from when she was 2 and voila...Cate was a fairy!
Before we set out, I found J and Towns hiding in the bushes trying to scare people...

They're such pranksters!

A few pictures with Mom and Dad, then we were off!

This was the first year Cate really understood what was going on, and she couldn't make it down the sidewalk for stopping to do this every two seconds...

She was holding up traffic, so this is how most of the trick-or-treating went...

But sometimes I stayed behind with her because Towns wanted her Daddy...

We walked around most of the neighborhood and Cate was a champ at hoofing it in heels. The girls started out being a little apprehensive about walking up to houses, but it didn't take long for them to catch on!
One of us went with them the first few times...

And then they were on their own...

This one is funny to me. Cate had a 5 minute conversation with this man about his dog and then proceeded to tell him all about our family. Towns was long gone by this point, but Cate wanted to stay around and chat...

Poor Towns did a lot of this all night...

Waiting for her candy-loving, socialite of a little sister! She really couldn't make it from house to house very quickly because she was too wrapped up in seeing what candy she wanted to eat next and talking to everyone passing by!
We hit the neighborhood Mexican restaurant before heading home which was icing on the cake for the girls. Surprisingly enough, when we got home they put down their pumpkins and didn't even want to pour everything out in the floor and survey their goods like they usually do! That was saved for Sunday morning breakfast...HA! I'm sure their Sunday School teachers really appreciated the sugar rush!
They were so tired, they went straight for the bed...

They laughed a whole lot before they fell asleep together...

We were all worn out after a night o' fun!

Fall & The All About Me Bag

Somehow in the craziness that is my life, I've forgotten to make a big deal out of the best day of Towns' life (or so she said)! At school each child in the class gets the All About Me Bag to take home and fill with all their favorite things that tell the class a little bit about them. Towns has been waiting since school started in September for that bag and I think her little heart was sad every time it went home with someone else besides her. But a couple of weeks ago Mrs. Glenda gave her the bag to bring home, and I knew by the look on her face when I picked her up that she was the happiest child on Earth! You might recall how excited she got over having to decorate the little person to look like her for homework...well, that excitement times fifty is a good description of her that day!
She picked out everything she wanted to put in it...

Tap shoes, ballet shoes, gymnastics 'liptard', her Bible, her book of Bible stories, her favorite twisty colored pencils, a picture she drew of her family, her princess camera, two favorite books, sprinkles and a cookie cutter since she loves to bake, her lovey, and the Madame Alexander doll I had when I was little that she loves to play with - wearing a tutu, of course!
All packed and ready to go...

She had to include a picture of her when she was a baby and also a picture of her family so she could tell the class about us...so sweet!
An added bonus is bringing something to show that starts with the letter of the week. Since P was the letter that week, she wanted to take Pink!
Cue the madness. Imagine 15 four year olds in one small classroom + their reactions to seeing a PUPPY at SCHOOL! I think Pink is scarred for life! :)

Before we took Pink in, we listened outside the door as she was telling the class about everything she'd brought. Mrs. Michelle was sweet enough to take pictures for me...

What a fun day!!
Pink might have been traumatized by Towns' classmates, but it was nothing compared to having to ride in the carseat with Cate all the way home...

We've been gearing up for Halloween and enjoying the fall weather this week...

The girls went like this to church Wednesday night and a friend asked if we'd been to a fall festival. Nope! We do things like this for no reason at all, other than it's just fun!

Last weekend, the girls made sprinkle-covered caramel apples. They really love to be in the kitchen, so we're constantly trying to find something new to cook up. I figured since Fall is upon us, caramel apples were perfect!

Everything is a little more exciting when you add these...

Cate usually has her own way of doing things, and this time it included covering the counter in sprinkles as opposed to her apple...

And apparently, sprinkles make water a little more exciting to drink...

Ahhh, now that's delish!

After the caramel apple fun, we dove into chocolate-covered pretzels. Actually, first the girls dove into the white chocolate chips! Thank goodness they'd washed their hands...

Last night, we had a Halloween party because Bethany is going to be at her mom's this weekend. We didn't want to leave her out, so naturally we had to celebrate before she leaves!
For some reason, these are the only pictures I have...

That's probably because I had pizza and Halloween brownies right in front of me!
Happy Halloween!
We'll miss trick-or-treating with you, B! Have fun this weekend!
